Sounds great. McGahan’s got to have been thinking about our previous PM. Thank god he’s gone; was last heard of petitioning to get the position he’d wanted far more than hat of Prime Minister or George W’s handmaiden: head of international cricket. Will look out for the book. Thanks.

I don’t want to give it away but Underground is a sort of apocalyptic view of a near future in which the war on terror has been used to enable the superpowers to consolidate complete control over the world by keeping the population in a constant state of fear. The US president and the Aus PM are the two guys who make it happen, which is the scary part. It’s been an interesting read.

Thanks, Thomas. I don’t know about Underground. What’s it about? I think McGahan is the guy who wrote “Praise” … is that right? When my brother was reading it he had me read the bit about the narrator’s first heroin hit and we were amazed. Made you want to run out and try it immediately.
