Hilarious. Hope the Easter Bunny brings me one!
:) Happy Easter, Thomas.
Thanks, you too!
thomas have you also done the forum?
SGx and thomas, have you visited richard’s blog yet? it’s “peace through math”.
No I haven’t done the forum. Thanks for pointing out Richard’s blog!
Richard’s blog way too clever for me. I notice you’re branching out with the comments, Dafna. Well done you :) You’ve got a great nose for potential bs!
SGx,
is “bs” = blogs? or blog threads? funny,
i think that andreas’ blog has become too clever for me.
phil has a new guy who wrote in French (a response to A’s thread) about WMD and also vilified the US (guessing that most readers did not understand the French, i let the caricature slide). in the end i had to accept that the ex-military man devoted to a life of peace really believed that WMD’s act as a deterrent to violence. i pointed to an article “towards a morality of tool use”, but the point was lost. why?
boys with toys? a woman’s perspective? hate can not deter hate, violence only begets violence, might does not make right… the only way to win the game is to not play it.
i always enjoy your topics, N., i put to use (successfully) one of the Landmark tools you described in email. thanks.
i confuse myself when i try to comment on something with too many twists. math is so exact, i find it soothing.
SGx, you may not realize but there is math in your blog… because you always make a point. (he, he, weak pun)
oops, bs=bullshit. Didn’t realise it was another Australianism. I read the bits I could make out of the exchange on Phil’s blog and I admired your guts very much. Phil likes to provoke and play “devil’s advocate”; hence all the pseudonyms and characters. He sometimes also comments on his own characters’ posts.
Had no idea there was math in my blog! I like that thought :) Sometimes i think I’m wandering all around the point, or that I can’t decide what the point is. Very chuffed to hear it doesn’t always come out that way.
oh that would be funny if Abelard le Duc were one of Phil’s pseudonyms. Phil claims to be an “extreme” introvert, and this Abelard is a veteran from the french foreign legion.
good g-d, i just went and looked, the whole blog is pseudonyms!
SGX, you always come to the point. it is why your blog is soothing to read, even if the topic is HOT.
was it the french you could not make out? the first half says that most countries/people hate in proportion to the violence that is imposed upon them. and some nonesuch about a thread that to win wars we must have more hate…
the second half bitterly vilifies the use of drone aircraft and their fly-boys. it says that, american soldiers drop bombs from drones and go home to their lovely wives drink ice cold coca cola fry up the red meat and have sweet dreams.
most humans given access to weapons which de-humanize would ill use the tool. (at least the men would) that’s why the women should be in charge.
ha ha, you make me laugh. Love the “good g-d … the whole blog is pseudonyms!” Yes. The day that man takes up the first-person voice ….
Glad I couldn’t make out the French by the sound of it. I once wrote a thesis vaguely about tool use … must go and check out the article you cited.
Dafna, just to make my last comment clearer. Wasn’t laughing because you didn’t realise Phil uses pseudonyms; just at the cute way you said it. I only know about the pseudonyms because I’ve been reading his blog for longer, and because I can see the email address of people commenting (which in Phil’s case was often the same, even though the personas were different).
no worries shiela!
btw, in the US we do say BS, we just capitalize it or spell it all out. “subtle” is not in the American vocabulary.
:)
The exchange rates say it all:
Finding yourself (via the self-finder GPS) is 15.14 times as valuable as being authentic (via the Authenticity Locator).
If having a breakdown, do you get what you pay for with the Breakdown Converter?
very funny!
Why … are you having a breakdown, dear?
I didn’t even notice the prices! Even funnier. Esp that AutoPossibility and Breakdown Converter are free. That’ll raise an extra snicker from every graduate.
